For equipment or system level ESD testing (by using either of ESS-S3011A/B3011A/L1611A ESD simulator), is there any requirement for the nubmer of discharges and discharge time interval to evaluate the ESD immunity of the EUT?
NoiseKenThe IEC 61000-4-2 standard only says 10 discharges at each point. It is commonly understood that whether a digital circuit up-set occurs or not is largely dependent on EUT operation mode, to say, circuit state. For this reason, the more complex the EUT be, the more number of applications are required.
Product or product family standards may give a guidance on this issue. For example, CISPR 24 for IT (information technology) equipment require 50 discharges (25 for each polarity) for each test point.
